Modern Room Design

If technology has taught us anything, it’s that you can always find easier ways to do things. This is one of the reasons why homeowners are looking for ways to turn their homes into spaces where they can relax and unwind.

While some are looking for ways to de-clutter and opt for minimalist décor, others are trying to return to more traditional interior designs for a homey feel. But what if you want the best of both worlds?

Take a look at how you can use furnishing and décor to create a modern and sophisticated, yet traditional vibe for any room in the house.

Go For Dark Hues

Dark hues in flooring always remind us of those summers spent in Grandpa’s luxury log cabin.

Incorporating dark wooden hues will invite warmth and colour in your room. You can start by installing dark rustic wooden flooring in the room which will instantly take you back to the age of architectural perfection during the Renaissance and the Enlightenment period.

Other than that, you can add contemporary accent furniture for a modern twist. The addition of abstract art and unique symmetrical light fixtures in an array of colours can come together to create a rustic yet modern space.

Add Authentic Textures to Your Room

Textures play a salient role in bringing about a sense of authenticity in any room—especially if you’re aiming for a rustic aesthetic.

While modern manufacturing techniques use high precision and geometrical designs in furniture, they don’t have the traditional and affluent look of textured wooden furniture.

To complement the wooden textures in the room, add elaborate plant pots in solid colours to add a splash of green to your room for a fresh look.

Create a Focal Point

From using just a small centrepiece to taking up an entire wall, creating a focal point can do wonders for any room. Not only does it make your room stand out, but it also draws your eyes around the room in a specific pattern.

If you’re going for a traditional look, don’t opt for something flashy. Instead, you choose metal panels or textured wooden frames to add depth to an otherwise flat room.

You can also use a piece of furniture with a popping colour as the designated focal point. For instance, if you have flooring with dark hues, opt for a bright-coloured sofa in mustard or deep green for a slightly modern vibe.

A Boho Addition

Jewelled-toned chairs, sleek leather sofas, a textured traditional carpet, and a fringed Boho centrepiece in front of the fireplace are another great way to bring the modern and traditional worlds together in perfect harmony.

The addition of Boho furniture pieces will not only complement the wooden flooring, but it’ll also create a warm and pleasant vibe in the room.

Do you think you can incorporate these ideas to transform your room for the better? Start your redesign with flooring!
