Vinyl is one of the most durable and inexpensive flooring options for both residential and commercial spaces. Vinyl tiles are also very low maintenance. All you need to do is invest some time in regular cleaning and prevent scratches and dents.
The Process
The first step is to sweep the floor and get rid of any debris and dust. Coming to the grout—clean it using a scrub brush immersed in a solution of bleach and water. The bleach gets rid of any mildew and mould.
Up next, you have the tiles. Make a solution of white vinegar and water in a 5-gallon bucket and scrub the tiles using a sponge mop. Start from the tiles far away from the entrance and work your way toward it. It’s always a good idea to let your vinyl tiles air dry. You can also use some fans to speed up the process.
Add Some Shine
After you’re done with the process, you want your tiles to shine out. For this, squeeze some lemon juice on a damp sponge and clean the tiles. Make sure the sponge is saturated. Keep on dampening the sponge and repeat the same step for all the tiles. This will restore the tiles’ luster and fill up the room with a lovely citrus fragrance. You can also use a finishing sealer for the same purpose.
Squirt it across the surface and use a mop to spread it. Please wait for it to dry and develop a shiny finish. Make sure you’re using a sealer exclusively designed for vinyl floors. You can easily buy one at the nearest home improvement store. You can also apply multiple coats for added shine.
Avoid Cleaning Mistakes
Always refer to the manufacturer’s instructions for this part. If you have no-wax vinyl, don’t use wax. You should be able to get a cleaner designed especially for no-wax floors. If it’s a wax floor, don’t scrub it too much, or else you’ll rub off the wax and might have to reapply.
Read through the labels too. Even if the label says that the cleaner doesn’t need rinsing, we recommend rinsing with a bit of clean and cool water. This will keep you from leaving residue on the floor.
