Herringbone Engineered Wood Flooring FAQs
Why choose herringbone engineered wood flooring?
Engineered wood is known for its durability, easy maintenance, and low cost compared to real wood. Our herringbone wood flooring offers a unique design that can give your room a luxurious finish. You can also make your flooring last longer by refinishing engineered wood, letting you refresh its protective coating to stay in top condition for longer.
Which rooms are suitable for herringbone engineered wood?
The durable nature of engineered wood herringbone flooring makes it a versatile fit for a variety of rooms. It’s well-suited for communal areas that receive heavy foot traffic, such as hallways, living rooms, and kitchens. Additionally, water-resistant options can be used in bathrooms if an appropriate maintenance routine is used.
Is herringbone engineered wood flooring easy to clean and maintain?
You can clean engineered wood flooring by sweeping or vacuuming dust and debris, then lightly mopping, taking care not to use too much water. You can also apply oil or polish for extended protection if you wish. Make sure to mop up spills immediately, or read our guide to removing water stains from engineered wood if they have set into your flooring.
Will furniture mark engineered wood flooring?
Although it is resistant to scratches and scuffs, herringbone engineered wood flooring is still prone to marks from heavier objects such as furniture. To minimise the risk of damage, consider using furniture pads on the legs of tables, sofas, and other heavy items. You can also prevent scuffs by lifting furniture rather than dragging it across your flooring.
How to lay herringbone engineered wood flooring?
Before installing engineered wood flooring, your subfloor must be cleaned and levelled, and your materials should be left to acclimatise for 24-48 hours. Then, draw a chalk line through the centre of your room, and cut a set of five planks to create a herringbone pattern placed along the edge of it. Repeat this pattern across your room, then begin layering planks in the opposite direction, remembering to stagger them with each row.
