Why choose dark laminate flooring?

Dark laminate makes a room feel more grounded and contemporary. It hides everyday marks far better than light flooring, sets off pale walls and white kitchens beautifully, and gives a high-end “real wood” look at a fraction of the cost of solid hardwood.

Most buyers worry about two things: scale (will it make a small room look smaller?) and dust visibility. The honest answer to both: dark floors do show fine dust, but the effect is dramatically reduced with matte and embossed finishes — which is what most of the floors in this collection are. For tight rooms, run the planks lengthwise toward the longest wall and stick to wider planks (190mm+).

What to look for when buying dark laminate

  • AC rating – AC3 is fine for bedrooms, AC4 for living rooms, AC5 for hallways and busy kitchens.
  • Plank thickness – 8mm is the budget sweet spot; 10–12mm feels noticeably more solid underfoot.
  • Bevelled vs square edge – bevelled (V-groove) gives a more authentic plank look, especially in dark tones.
  • Underlay – many of our packs include integrated underlay; check the spec to avoid buying twice.
