How do I determine the amount of flooring I need for my space?

Determining the right amount of flooring for your space is a crucial step in any home improvement project. At Flooring King, we've got you covered with a simple guide to help you calculate the exact amount you need: Measure Your Space: Begin by measuring the length and width of the room. For irregularly shaped rooms, divide them into smaller, more manageable sections. Add Extra for Wastage: It's wise to account for wastage during installation. Depending on the complexity of your layout, add an extra 5-10% to your total square footage to accommodate cuts and unforeseen adjustments. Consider Pattern Matching: If your chosen flooring has a pattern or needs to be matched, consult with our experts at Flooring King to determine the extra amount required for a seamless look. Factor in Room Shape: Different room shapes may result in varying amounts of wastage. Take into consideration any alcoves, closets, or irregular corners that may affect your calculations. Heather Twist Elite in Soft Stone is a medium brown twist carpet built for homes where spills and mess happen daily. The bleach-cleanable pile means you can tackle stains head-on without fussing over damage or discoloration. It sits at 10mm pile height with a substantial 1700g/m² weight, delivering softness underfoot and real durability.

Specifications

Pile height: 10mm
Pile weight: 1700g/m²
Total thickness: 11.5mm
Material: Polypropylene twist pile
Backing: Dual backing
Use classification: 23 (domestic to light commercial)

The dual backing adds stability on stairs and landings, and the carpet works with underfloor heating so you’re not locked out of a modern heating system. It’s supplied on gripper fitting, which is the standard method for domestic rooms.

Where it works

Soft Stone suits bedrooms, living rooms, dining rooms, hallways, landings and stairs. Its medium brown tone is neutral enough to blend with most schemes, whilst the twist texture hides foot traffic and dust. If you’re looking for carpet that performs in busy family spaces, this holds up well. Lano carpets are known for this kind of hard-working practicality.

Installation and looking after it

Gripper installation is quick and straightforward. An underlay is required to cushion the pile and improve thermal performance. Underlay also reduces sound, which helps in hallways and living spaces.

The big advantage here is maintenance. You can use a diluted bleach solution on stains and marks without worry. Regular vacuuming keeps the twist pile fresh, and it resists matting well. Heather Twist Elite carries a 10-year warranty, giving you real peace of mind on a carpet you’ll use hard.
