How do I determine the amount of flooring I need for my space?

Determining the right amount of flooring for your space is a crucial step in any home improvement project. At Flooring King, we've got you covered with a simple guide to help you calculate the exact amount you need: Measure Your Space: Begin by measuring the length and width of the room. For irregularly shaped rooms, divide them into smaller, more manageable sections. Add Extra for Wastage: It's wise to account for wastage during installation. Depending on the complexity of your layout, add an extra 5-10% to your total square footage to accommodate cuts and unforeseen adjustments. Consider Pattern Matching: If your chosen flooring has a pattern or needs to be matched, consult with our experts at Flooring King to determine the extra amount required for a seamless look. Factor in Room Shape: Different room shapes may result in varying amounts of wastage. Take into consideration any alcoves, closets, or irregular corners that may affect your calculations. Vanguard Sumptuous in Truffle is a cream Saxony carpet designed for rooms where life happens. Its 13.5mm pile feels soft underfoot whilst the bleach-cleanable finish means you can tackle spills without fuss. The light shade works across open-plan spaces and pairs well with modern and traditional schemes alike.

This is a polypropylene pile on an Action Back, fitted with a gripper system. It suits bedrooms, living rooms, dining areas, hallways and stairs, making it a practical choice for households where durability matters. The carpet works with underfloor heating, so you can layer it over a warm floor system.

Specifications

Thickness: 15.5mm total
Pile weight: 2460g/m2
Backing: Action Back
Material: Polypropylene

You’ll need a suitable underlay beneath it. The carpet is not waterproof, so avoid areas prone to moisture. Vanguard Carpets come with a 7-year warranty against wear and manufacturing defects.

Installation and care

Fit it with a gripper system by a professional fitter. Gripper installation keeps the carpet taut and lets you lift it later if needed. Regular vacuuming keeps the pile fresh. For spills, the bleach-cleanable finish gives you the flexibility to use a stronger clean when you need it, which is a real advantage in kitchens or busy living spaces. Always test cleaning products on a hidden corner first.

Carpet from the Vanguard Sumptuous range sits in the mid-price band and offers a soft finish that lasts.
