How do I determine the amount of flooring I need for my space?

Determining the right amount of flooring for your space is a crucial step in any home improvement project. At Flooring King, we've got you covered with a simple guide to help you calculate the exact amount you need: Measure Your Space: Begin by measuring the length and width of the room. For irregularly shaped rooms, divide them into smaller, more manageable sections. Add Extra for Wastage: It's wise to account for wastage during installation. Depending on the complexity of your layout, add an extra 5-10% to your total square footage to accommodate cuts and unforeseen adjustments. Consider Pattern Matching: If your chosen flooring has a pattern or needs to be matched, consult with our experts at Flooring King to determine the extra amount required for a seamless look. Factor in Room Shape: Different room shapes may result in varying amounts of wastage. Take into consideration any alcoves, closets, or irregular corners that may affect your calculations. Shark Skin is a medium grey Saxony carpet that brings soft texture and neutral warmth to any room. The plain weave suits traditional and modern schemes alike, whilst the 13mm pile feels underfoot without showing traffic marks. Bleach cleanable, it handles spills and stains straight on, so you can act fast without fuss.

This is real carpet fibres, not some commercial-grade synthetic. The polypropylene pile sits on dual backing for stability, and the whole thing works with underfloor heating if your home has it. At 2400g/m2 pile weight and 15mm thick, it keeps its shape through daily wear. The cut-pile Saxony style ages well and doesn’t flatten quickly, making it tough enough for hallways and landings as much as living areas.

Where it works

Shark Skin suits bedrooms, living rooms, dining rooms, hallways and stairs. The bleach-cleanable finish and gripper installation make it a practical choice for active households and bleach cleanable carpets are especially useful where young children or pets are around. Its neutral grey tone plays well with most schemes, from period homes to contemporary open-plan spaces.

Installation and care

This carpet is fitted using grippers, the standard method for domestic properties. You will need a suitable underlay beneath it. Stains and spills respond well to bleach-based cleaners, so tackle them promptly and the fibres stay fresh. Regular vacuuming keeps the pile upright and extends the life of the carpet.
