Frequently Asked Questions
Is LVT harder wearing than laminate?
Yes. LVT is fully waterproof and has a flexible wear layer that resists chipping. Laminate is more scratch-resistant on hard impacts but can swell if water sits on the seams.
Are dark LVT floors in style?
Dark LVT has been the fastest-growing LVT colour group in the UK for the last 3 years, especially in kitchens and entryways.
Is LVT used in high-end homes?
Absolutely, LVT now appears in premium kitchen and bathroom fits where real timber isn’t practical due to moisture.
What are the negatives of LVT flooring?
Two main downsides: it can dent under sharp point loads (high heels, dropped knives) and the cheapest grades fade in direct sun. Stick to 4mm+ rigid-core in living areas to avoid both.
Can dark LVT go over underfloor heating?
Yes, most rigid-core LVT is UFH-rated up to 27°C. Each product spec confirms compatibility.
How thick should dark LVT be for a kitchen?
4–5mm rigid-core (SPC) with at least a 0.3mm wear layer for a 5–10 year residential warranty.
