How do I determine the amount of flooring I need for my space?

Determining the right amount of flooring for your space is a crucial step in any home improvement project. At Flooring King, we've got you covered with a simple guide to help you calculate the exact amount you need: Measure Your Space: Begin by measuring the length and width of the room. For irregularly shaped rooms, divide them into smaller, more manageable sections. Add Extra for Wastage: It's wise to account for wastage during installation. Depending on the complexity of your layout, add an extra 5-10% to your total square footage to accommodate cuts and unforeseen adjustments. Consider Pattern Matching: If your chosen flooring has a pattern or needs to be matched, consult with our experts at Flooring King to determine the extra amount required for a seamless look. Factor in Room Shape: Different room shapes may result in varying amounts of wastage. Take into consideration any alcoves, closets, or irregular corners that may affect your calculations. Altro Aquarius – Walrus is a medium grey speckled sheet vinyl that brings practical safety to bathrooms, kitchens and commercial spaces. The R11 anti-slip rating grips underfoot even when wet, making it ideal for areas where slip hazards matter. Its 2mm thickness and PVC construction create a durable, waterproof floor that stands up to daily moisture and frequent cleaning.

What you get

2mm thick PVC sheet vinyl with scrim backing
R11 anti-slip safety rating
Available in 2m roll widths, 20m roll length
5dB sound insulation
Fully waterproof
Suitable for underfloor heating

Installation is straightforward. This is a glue-down product that doesn’t require underlay, so fitting costs stay down. The scrim backing helps with stability during application and keeps the floor firm underfoot.

Where it works best

Altro Aquarius is built for bathrooms, kitchen areas, WCs and light to heavy commercial settings. Its waterproof nature makes it especially suited to anywhere moisture and slip risk go hand in hand. The speckled finish hides marks well and keeps its looks with minimal care.

Installation and care

Glue it directly to a clean, flat subfloor. No underlay needed. If you’re planning underfloor heating, this vinyl is compatible, so you can add warmth without complications. For day-to-day upkeep, regular damp mopping is all it needs. The waterproof surface resists spills and stands up to scrubbing.

Altro backs this floor with a 10-year commercial warranty, reflecting its Class 34 use classification. Choose Commercial Vinyl Flooring when safety and longevity matter.
