How do I determine the amount of flooring I need for my space?

Determining the right amount of flooring for your space is a crucial step in any home improvement project. At Flooring King, we've got you covered with a simple guide to help you calculate the exact amount you need: Measure Your Space: Begin by measuring the length and width of the room. For irregularly shaped rooms, divide them into smaller, more manageable sections. Add Extra for Wastage: It's wise to account for wastage during installation. Depending on the complexity of your layout, add an extra 5-10% to your total square footage to accommodate cuts and unforeseen adjustments. Consider Pattern Matching: If your chosen flooring has a pattern or needs to be matched, consult with our experts at Flooring King to determine the extra amount required for a seamless look. Factor in Room Shape: Different room shapes may result in varying amounts of wastage. Take into consideration any alcoves, closets, or irregular corners that may affect your calculations. Altro ContraX in Nearly Black is a practical, hard-wearing vinyl that suits busy kitchens, bathrooms and commercial spaces. The dark speckled surface hides marks and mess, whilst the R10 anti-slip rating keeps it safe underfoot even when wet. At just 2mm thick, it’s lightweight to fit yet durable enough for heavy foot traffic.

The Altro ContraX range pairs a waterproof PVC backing with a glue-down fixing method, so water won’t seep through. There’s no underlay required. If you have underfloor heating, this vinyl works with it, picking up and releasing heat smoothly.

Where it works

Nearly Black suits kitchens, bathrooms, WCs and commercial settings where grip and water resistance matter. It’s tough enough for high-traffic zones and easy to clean when spills happen. Commercial Vinyl Flooring like this Altro ContraX option gives you the durability of heavier-duty products without the premium price.

Installation and heating

Glue the vinyl directly to a clean, flat subfloor. It works with underfloor heating systems, so you can warm your kitchen or bathroom underneath without affecting the surface. No separate underlay is needed.

Looking after it

Sweep and mop regularly to keep it clean. The waterproof surface resists stains and spills. Altro backs this product with a 5-year commercial warranty, giving you confidence in its lifespan.
