How do I determine the amount of flooring I need for my space?

Determining the right amount of flooring for your space is a crucial step in any home improvement project. At Flooring King, we've got you covered with a simple guide to help you calculate the exact amount you need: Measure Your Space: Begin by measuring the length and width of the room. For irregularly shaped rooms, divide them into smaller, more manageable sections. Add Extra for Wastage: It's wise to account for wastage during installation. Depending on the complexity of your layout, add an extra 5-10% to your total square footage to accommodate cuts and unforeseen adjustments. Consider Pattern Matching: If your chosen flooring has a pattern or needs to be matched, consult with our experts at Flooring King to determine the extra amount required for a seamless look. Factor in Room Shape: Different room shapes may result in varying amounts of wastage. Take into consideration any alcoves, closets, or irregular corners that may affect your calculations. Torch is a dark, warm brown and orange speckled sheet vinyl from the Altro Stronghold 30 range. The colour suits modern or traditional kitchens, bathrooms and commercial spaces where safety and durability matter. It looks lived-in and practical, masking everyday marks well, yet it keeps the professional finish you need in a busy setting.

What sets this flooring apart is the grip. An R12 anti-slip rating means your feet stay planted even when wet or dirty. It’s made for spaces where people move quickly and surfaces get damp. The 3mm PVC backing sits firmly with a glue-down fit, and the scrim backing locks it in place on the subfloor.

Specifications

Thickness: 3mm
Roll width: 2m
Roll length: 15m
Material: PVC with scrim backing
Anti-slip rating: R12
Sound insulation: 10dB
Use class: 34 and 43 (domestic and commercial)

The sheet is fully waterproof, so spills and splashes pose no threat. It sits well over underfloor heating if your home or workplace has it, and no separate underlay is needed.

Where it works

Torch suits kitchens, bathrooms and wet rooms where slip hazard is a real concern. It’s also rated for light commercial use, making it right for care homes, hotels, offices and small shops. The durability and easy upkeep earn it a place wherever people gather and wear their shoes indoors.

Installation

This is a glue-down sheet vinyl. A qualified fitter will apply adhesive to the prepared subfloor and lay the sheet flat, rolling it to ensure a tight bond. It works over concrete, wood or existing vinyl if the base is sound and level.

Looking after it

Sweep or vacuum daily to clear grit, then damp-mop with warm water and a neutral cleaner. The waterproof surface wipes dry quickly and resists staining. Torch carries a 20-year warranty against manufacturing faults, giving you peace of mind in a hard-working space.
