How do I determine the amount of flooring I need for my space?

Determining the right amount of flooring for your space is a crucial step in any home improvement project. At Flooring King, we've got you covered with a simple guide to help you calculate the exact amount you need: Measure Your Space: Begin by measuring the length and width of the room. For irregularly shaped rooms, divide them into smaller, more manageable sections. Add Extra for Wastage: It's wise to account for wastage during installation. Depending on the complexity of your layout, add an extra 5-10% to your total square footage to accommodate cuts and unforeseen adjustments. Consider Pattern Matching: If your chosen flooring has a pattern or needs to be matched, consult with our experts at Flooring King to determine the extra amount required for a seamless look. Factor in Room Shape: Different room shapes may result in varying amounts of wastage. Take into consideration any alcoves, closets, or irregular corners that may affect your calculations. Dorchester Oak brings a warm, medium brown plank look to any room without the upkeep of real wood. This sheet vinyl has a soft cushioned backing that makes it kind to your feet and muffles sound, so you get both comfort and quiet underfoot. The waterproof PVC surface means it stands up to spills and splashes in the kitchen or bathroom.

What you get

Thickness: 3.5mm with 0.35mm wear layer
Loose lay installation, no glue needed
Roll widths: 2m, 3m or 4m to fit your space
Sound insulation: 19dB
Weight: 2150g/m2
Anti-slip rated R10

The cushioned vinyl backing gives it a softer feel than rigid alternatives, and the plank effect oak grain looks natural without the fuss. It works equally well in living rooms, kitchens, bathrooms and hallways, and handles commercial use too if you need it to.

Installation and heating

Loose lay fitting means you simply unroll and position it. It’s also compatible with underfloor heating systems, so you can add warmth without worrying about the flooring.

Looking after it

Wipe down spills straight away and sweep or hoover regularly to keep it looking fresh. The waterproof surface resists moisture, and the 0.35mm wear layer protects the print from daily wear. Polyflor back this product with a 20-year guarantee, so you can be confident it will hold up.

Polyflor Architex is part of a wider range of Cushioned Vinyl Flooring options if you want to compare finishes.
