How do I determine the amount of flooring I need for my space?

Determining the right amount of flooring for your space is a crucial step in any home improvement project. At Flooring King, we've got you covered with a simple guide to help you calculate the exact amount you need: Measure Your Space: Begin by measuring the length and width of the room. For irregularly shaped rooms, divide them into smaller, more manageable sections. Add Extra for Wastage: It's wise to account for wastage during installation. Depending on the complexity of your layout, add an extra 5-10% to your total square footage to accommodate cuts and unforeseen adjustments. Consider Pattern Matching: If your chosen flooring has a pattern or needs to be matched, consult with our experts at Flooring King to determine the extra amount required for a seamless look. Factor in Room Shape: Different room shapes may result in varying amounts of wastage. Take into consideration any alcoves, closets, or irregular corners that may affect your calculations. Portland Cement brings a clean, contemporary concrete look to any room without the cold underfoot feel. The light grey finish and subtle stone texture work beautifully in modern kitchens, bathrooms and living spaces where you want a practical, minimal aesthetic. It sits somewhere between raw industrial and soft domestic – the kind of floor that suits both sleek minimalism and relaxed family living.

What sets this Polyflor Architex sheet vinyl apart is the cushioning. Rather than hard concrete, your feet step onto a soft, forgiving surface that reduces fatigue and noise. The 19dB sound insulation keeps things quiet underfoot too. It’s Cushioned Vinyl Flooring engineered for comfort without sacrificing style.

Where it works

Portland Cement suits kitchens, bathrooms, bedrooms, living rooms, hallways and commercial spaces. Its waterproof finish handles splashes and spills with ease, whilst the R10 anti-slip surface keeps you safe on wet floors. You can fit it in properties with underfloor heating too, which expands its appeal in modern homes and renovations.

Installation

This sheet vinyl uses loose-lay fitting, so installation is straightforward and quick. No adhesive needed. The PVC backing stays flat, and the material sits stable once settled. Underfloor heating systems work beneath it without issue.

Looking after it

Maintenance is simple. Sweep or vacuum regularly to lift grit and dust, then wipe with a damp mop and mild cleaner. The waterproof surface resists stains and moisture. Polyflor backs this product with a 20-year warranty, giving you long-term confidence in its durability and finish.
