How do I determine the amount of flooring I need for my space?

Determining the right amount of flooring for your space is a crucial step in any home improvement project. At Flooring King, we've got you covered with a simple guide to help you calculate the exact amount you need: Measure Your Space: Begin by measuring the length and width of the room. For irregularly shaped rooms, divide them into smaller, more manageable sections. Add Extra for Wastage: It's wise to account for wastage during installation. Depending on the complexity of your layout, add an extra 5-10% to your total square footage to accommodate cuts and unforeseen adjustments. Consider Pattern Matching: If your chosen flooring has a pattern or needs to be matched, consult with our experts at Flooring King to determine the extra amount required for a seamless look. Factor in Room Shape: Different room shapes may result in varying amounts of wastage. Take into consideration any alcoves, closets, or irregular corners that may affect your calculations. Silica Micro Terrazo 5126 is a dark stone-effect vinyl tile that brings a sleek, contemporary look to any room. The textured finish mimics real terrazo with subtly embedded micro details, whilst remaining easy to clean and maintain. This is a genuine practical alternative to natural stone, with all the durability and none of the upkeep.

Part of the Polyflor Expona Commercial range, it sits at Class 42 rating, making it equally at home in busy commercial spaces and demanding domestic kitchens and hallways. The textured surface grips underfoot too, with an R10 anti-slip rating for safety where it matters.

Specifications

Dimensions: 609mm wide by 1219mm long
Thickness: 2.5mm with 0.55mm wear layer
Tile effect with bevelled edge
Pack: 8 tiles covering 5.95m2, weighing 25.53kg
Sound insulation: 2dB
Anti-slip: R10 rated

The dark tone and stone aesthetic work well in kitchens, bathrooms, utility rooms and commercial settings. It also suits living spaces, bedrooms, dining rooms, halls and landings where you want a modern, practical surface that looks good.

Installation and Performance

This is a glue-down installation, and no underlay is needed. One key advantage is full compatibility with underfloor heating systems, making it ideal for homes planning a heating upgrade or retrofitting warmth into existing spaces. It’s completely waterproof, so bathrooms, kitchens and wet areas pose no problem.

The Class 23, 33, 42 use classification confirms its suitability for Luxury Vinyl Tiles in light commercial to heavy traffic zones. An LRV (light reflectance value) of 13 means it absorbs light, so pair it with good overhead lighting to avoid a cave-like feel in smaller rooms.

Care and Warranty

Maintenance is straightforward: sweep regularly and mop with a damp cloth and mild cleaner. The textured surface does trap a little more dust than smooth finishes, so you may vacuum a touch more often. A 10-year commercial warranty backs your purchase, giving long-term peace of mind.
