How do I determine the amount of flooring I need for my space?

Determining the right amount of flooring for your space is a crucial step in any home improvement project. At Flooring King, we've got you covered with a simple guide to help you calculate the exact amount you need: Measure Your Space: Begin by measuring the length and width of the room. For irregularly shaped rooms, divide them into smaller, more manageable sections. Add Extra for Wastage: It's wise to account for wastage during installation. Depending on the complexity of your layout, add an extra 5-10% to your total square footage to accommodate cuts and unforeseen adjustments. Consider Pattern Matching: If your chosen flooring has a pattern or needs to be matched, consult with our experts at Flooring King to determine the extra amount required for a seamless look. Factor in Room Shape: Different room shapes may result in varying amounts of wastage. Take into consideration any alcoves, closets, or irregular corners that may affect your calculations. Deep Fossil 5082 is a hard-wearing stone-effect vinyl that brings the look of slate or natural stone to your space without the upkeep. Its medium brown tone suits modern and traditional schemes alike, working as well in period properties as it does in sleek contemporary homes. The surface stays dry underfoot thanks to its waterproof PVC construction, and the R10 anti-slip rating means it grips firmly even when wet, which makes it a safe choice for kitchens, bathrooms and commercial settings where moisture and foot traffic go hand in hand.

Specifications

Thickness: 2mm with 0.7mm wear layer
Roll width: 2m, supplied in 20m lengths
Installation: Glue-down
Sound insulation: 19dB
Anti-slip rating: R10
Use classification: 23, 34, 43
Backing: PVC

The Polysafe Stone FX range is built for spaces where safety and performance matter. Its PVC construction handles kitchen spills, bathroom steam and the constant footfall of a busy office without losing grip or showing wear. An LRV of 22 means the darker tone absorbs light, so it works best in well-lit rooms and can make smaller spaces feel cosier.

Where it works

Sheet Vinyl Flooring like this suits bathrooms, kitchens, WCs, offices and light commercial areas. The waterproof nature makes it perfect for wet rooms, whilst the anti-slip surface keeps it safe underfoot in high-traffic zones and spaces prone to spills.

Installation and heating

Deep Fossil 5082 is fitted using the glue-down method. No underlay is required. If you’re fitting underfloor heating, this vinyl is fully compatible, so you can add warmth without sacrificing style or safety.

Looking after it

Maintenance is straightforward. Regular sweeping or vacuuming removes dust and debris. For spills and stains, a damp mop with mild detergent does the job. The waterproof surface resists moisture and staining, and the robust wear layer keeps it looking fresh for years. Polyflor backs this product with a 10-year commercial warranty, covering its performance in demanding settings.
