Polyflor Standard XL Sheet Vinyl

About Polyflor Standard XL Sheet Vinyl

Polyflor Standard XL Sheet Vinyl is part of our sheet vinyl selection, with the exact surface and construction described within the collection; a named brand can include products for different settings, so the design group is separate from the approved use of an individual floor.

You can choose a vinyl look that relates to the fixed parts of the room without changing the material category; the design may create a stronger floor pattern or a quieter background beneath your furniture. The backing and the surface finish give the chosen product its own feel within that wider choice.

The backing gives the sheet its body beneath the visible face; a compact product has a different construction from a cushioned sheet, even where both have a similar printed design. You see the pattern from above, while those hidden layers affect the feel and the approved uses of the floor beneath your feet.

What is sheet vinyl flooring

Sheet vinyl is supplied on a roll and cut into lengths for the floor; the surface can have a printed design or colour within the material, depending on the construction. You can get the look of timber or a more even coloured finish without using separate boards across the room.

A broad sheet covers a larger area between joins than a plank or tile format. Larger rooms may still need joined lengths, so the finished floor is not always one piece. The available roll width depends on the product.

Colour and pattern across the floor

Sheet vinyl includes designs for a quiet background as well as floors with a stronger pattern; a wood effect has printed grain and board lines, while stone-style vinyl can have the softer changes of tone you associate with mineral surfaces.

You can use a patterned floor beneath plain walls or choose a more even shade when your room already has patterned furnishings; the design is part of the sheet, so a printed tile effect does not have the same physical joints as separate ceramic tiles. That gives it a different surface feel.

You can also find sheet vinyl adhesives among the related products across the Flooring King catalogue.

Sheet vinyl in homes and shared spaces

Domestic sheet vinyl is often used where you want a floor with a finished surface and a broad choice of designs. Cushioned products can have a softer feel underfoot than a compact sheet, although the backing and the base both affect the result.

Commercial collections have their own specifications for the spaces they are intended to cover; a floor for a home and one for a busy shared building are not interchangeable because they share a colour. You can find the approved use in the details for the exact collection.

Surface finish and everyday cleaning

A sheet floor has fewer individual joints than a floor made from small pieces, which can be useful where you prefer a less divided surface; the surface texture still varies by design, from a more even face to an embossed or slip-resistant finish.

Vinyl needs routine cleaning to remove dirt brought in from outside; the stated cleaning method depends on the surface treatment and the intended use. Water resistance also relates to the completed floor, including its joins and edges, so ordinary sheet vinyl is not automatically a wet-room system.
